Nature activities in the Roya and Mercantour

On the way... you’re gone. You cross the landscapes of Provence, northern Italy or the south of the Alps, until you see the rocky peaks of the Mercantour dominating the green valleys and the perched medieval villages of the Maritime Alps, Piedmont and Liguria.

Below, the Sun caresses the coast of the Côte d'Azur and the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. Going up the valley of the Roya (or Vésubie), you discover limestone telling the life of the ancient Thetis ocean, through garrigues, pine forests and deciduous forests. Then, you will cross impressive gorges dug by the melting of the ice of the last great glaciations, to reach the siliceous Roya, more mountainous, chestnut groves, dark forests of fir trees, spruce, with woods of golden cytises in July. Then comes the more sparse melizin, rhododendrons covering the landscapes with purple flowers in June, and succulent blueberries and wild raspberries in summer. You may surprise deer and deer, see if you are very lucky the wolf. Continuing to climb, the landscape gives way to the flowery pastures of the brigasques sheep, tendasques goats and cows, to the landscapes dug by the ancient glaciers, with a myriad of crystalline lakes, herds of chamois, the surprising marmots and the mysterious engravings of the Wonders and Fontanalba. Finally, you reach the sharp rocky ridges where ibex revel in rock flowers and enjoy splendid panoramas offered to the passes and summits surrounding the 3000m of altitude.

The possibilities are many to discover these landscapes in any season and for all levels. You can walk the many trails, but also try a total immersion, off the beaten track and tourist areas. My job is to take you where you can’t go alone, adapt to your needs and desires, and take you to surpass yourself. And why not try the adventure on several days, the bivouac, an outing at dusk to surprise more wild animals?

Here are some examples of programmable hikes, but do not hesitate to tell me your desires...

I can also move in other mountains for several days of hiking...

( Contact me for more information )

Imaginative hikes are planned. Their originality will be revealed one or two weeks before the release. Thus, you will discover unique specialties, with other speakers who will complete my skills, to laugh, relax, discover, understand, dream, create...

It is also possible to organize an outing à la carte. Tell me what makes you dream, a place you want to go, an atmosphere you want to discover, a theme you want to discover, and I will tell you if it is possible for me to make you a proposal. The heart of our business is adaptation.

Prices vary according to the themes developed

The varied terrain makes it possible to develop a large number of activities. But it is worth preparing before going on an adventure...

Although in lower Roya, we are lucky to enjoy nearly 300 days of sunshine a year, remember to plan a raincoat because the weather can quickly change in the mountains, especially in August-October. Unless otherwise specified, provide a snack, sunscreen (cream, glasses, hat), and especially, hiking shoes adapted to high stem, to maintain the ankles (many trails in the Roya are stony and trail shoes are only suitable for those with muscular joints). In winter, add extra gloves and socks (Oops! Step into the stream!). You can take walking sticks if your knees are sensitive by providing rubber tips (essential for the archaeological areas of Wonders and Fontanalba), but beware, they should not carry you or create accidents (posed in the middle of the passage, pointing above the bag ready to dazzle your neighbors...)

Also think about your bottle, filled, because depending on the routes, the sources can be rare (minimum 75cl, isothermal recommended).

Dogs, hippos, platypus and other pets are, in principle, not accepted, because it is those of the natural environment that we will try to meet...

Despite my constant attention, children remain under the responsibility of their parents during all hikes (when they are present).

In case of cancellation, notify me in advance, so that my day is not lost.

The rates indicated correspond to the accompaniment of a group of adults. For individual rates, you can count a half-fare (rounded down) for children under 14 years (accompanied by their parents).

For low-budget schools, associations or leisure centres, it is possible to adapt a special rate by contacting me and explaining your situation.

I practice ecotourism by trying to have as much coherence as possible with the ideas and passions that I will share with you, which implies that everyone manages their waste and respects the places, the inhabitants, the animals and the actors of the mountain met.

Moreover, my job is primarily to adapt to the group, to provide security, anecdotes and well-being. Do not hesitate to let me know if the pace is too fast, if there is something you misunderstood, or you want to deepen, and any remarks that could improve my services. Your feedback is welcome.

Good day, with the hope of sharing my passion on our beautiful mountains.
